Privacy Policy

Daycarecostmap is built to be used without giving up any personal information. We do not run accounts, we do not ask for your email, and we do not set tracking cookies. The state, age, care type, and income figures you enter into the cost explorer or budget calculator are processed entirely on your own device and are never uploaded anywhere. This policy describes exactly what happens to data when you use the site.

What you type into the tools never leaves your browser

The cost explorer and budget calculator read this site's own published price dataset (a static file shipped with the page) and do all of their calculation in JavaScript running in your browser. Your selected state, age band, care type, and any income figure you enter are never sent to a server, are never stored, and disappear when you close or reload the page.

Anonymous, aggregate analytics only

We use a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool (Umami) to see aggregate page views and which tools get used, so we know which parts of the site are useful. This does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you individually, and does not track you across other websites. It records things like "the budget calculator was used" or "a state page was viewed," not the specific numbers you entered.

No accounts, no purchases

There is nothing to sign up for on this site and nothing to buy. We do not collect names, emails, or payment information, because we never ask for any.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to primary sources (Child Care Aware of America, the U.S. Census Bureau, the College Board, the IRS) and, where a documented affiliate or lead-gen relationship exists, to a partner site. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
